Last year a new and exciting product was introduced to the cosmetic arena. Dysport, a muscle blocking agent, is an injectable that rivals Botox. Like Botox, it is botulinum neurotoxin type A complex. It works by the same mechanism as Botox and relieves muscle overactivity. The “calming” of the muscle leads to a reduction of wrinkles in the area that has been treated. It is given in the same manner and with very similar volumes. The procedure only takes a few minutes and is typically associated with no downtime. The areas of the face that are treated include the glabella (between the eyebrows), the forehead, and around the outer eyes (crow’s feet). The results are a smoother, more relaxed look. It takes about a day to start seeing the effect and it lasts for approximately four months. Make an appointment for a consultation to see if Dysport is right for you.
